Build Your First Resume in 6 Simple Steps

Everything you need to know about RepoToResume — from connecting your GitHub to exporting a pixel-perfect, ATS-optimized PDF.

01

Getting Started

Create your account and set up your profile in under a minute.

Sign In with GitHub

Click "Get Started for Free" on the landing page. You'll be redirected to GitHub for secure OAuth authentication. We only request read-only access to your public repositories — your private repos stay private.

Authorize Access

Grant RepoToResume permission to read your public repository data. This includes repository names, languages, README files, and commit history. We never modify your code or access private repos.

Dashboard Access

Once authenticated, you'll land on your Dashboard — your central hub for managing repositories, creating resumes, and accessing all features.

02

Connect & Import Repositories

Your GitHub repos are automatically imported and ready to analyze.

Automatic Import

RepoToResume automatically fetches all your public repositories the moment you sign in. You'll see them listed on your Dashboard with language breakdowns and last-updated timestamps.

Repository Selection

Choose which repositories you want to highlight on your resume. Select the ones most relevant to your target role — quality over quantity.

Refresh Anytime

Created a new repo or made updates? Hit the refresh button to re-sync your GitHub data instantly.

03

AI Repository Analysis

Our AI engine deep-scans your code to extract professional impact bullets.

Bulk Pre-Analysis

Use the "Analyze All Repos" button on your Dashboard to run our AI engine across every repository. The system reads your READMEs, detects tech stacks, and generates 4 high-impact bullet points per repo.

Individual Analysis

You can also analyze repos one by one. Click any repository card to trigger analysis and review the generated bullets before adding them to your resume.

Impact Scoring

Each bullet point is scored for professional impact. Our AI uses industry-standard metrics — deployment pipelines, test coverage, API performance, user-facing features — to quantify your contributions.

04

Create Your Resume

Build a new resume from scratch or use AI-generated content from your repos.

New Resume

Navigate to the "Resumes" tab and click "Create New Resume". Give it a name (e.g., "Frontend Developer — Google") and you'll enter the editor.

Auto-Fill from Repos

The editor lets you pull in analyzed bullet points from any of your repositories. Select the repos relevant to this job and the AI bullets are inserted automatically.

Job Description Matching

Paste a job URL or description. Our ATS engine extracts required keywords and highlights which of your skills and bullets match — and which are missing.

05

Edit & Customize

Fine-tune every section of your resume with a powerful inline editor.

Section Editor

Use the accordion-style editor to manage sections: Summary, Experience, Projects, Education, Skills, and Certifications. Add, remove, or reorder sections as needed.

Live Preview

See your changes in real-time on the A4 preview panel. The preview updates instantly as you type, so you always know exactly what your final PDF will look like.

Multi-Page Support

If your content exceeds one page, the preview automatically generates additional pages. Each page is rendered at exact A4 dimensions for pixel-perfect output.

06

Export & Share

Download a pixel-perfect PDF or share your resume with a public link.

PDF Export

Click the "Export PDF" button to generate a production-quality PDF. The PDF is rendered by headless Chromium for pixel-perfect accuracy — what you see in the preview is exactly what you get.

ATS Scanner

Before exporting, run the built-in ATS Scanner to check your resume's compatibility score. It flags missing keywords, formatting issues, and gives you a score out of 100.

Shareable Link

Generate a public shareable link for your resume. Perfect for adding to your LinkedIn profile, portfolio site, or email signature.

💡 Pro Tips

Tailor for Each Application

Create separate resumes for different roles. A “Frontend Developer” resume should highlight different repos than a “Full-Stack Engineer” resume.

Use the ATS Scanner

Always run the ATS Scanner before exporting. Aim for a score above 80 to maximize your chances of passing automated filters.

Keep READMEs Updated

The AI relies heavily on your repository READMEs. A detailed README with setup instructions, tech stack, and project description produces much better resume bullets.

Quantify Everything

Recruiters love numbers. If the AI doesn't include them, manually add metrics: “improved load time by 40%”, “served 10K+ daily users”, etc.
